In September 2023, SNC-Lavalin became AtkinsRéalis, reaffirming our purpose as a company: engineering a better future for our planet and its people. Sustainable Water Management
We recognize the importance of water, an essential resource for mining that is also vital for communities and ecosystems. We offer comprehensive services that include characterization, analysis , and management of water resources, process review , and optimization aimed at efficient use, guaranteeing continuous access to this precious resource.
Integrated Tailings Management
We provide engineering solutions to address tailings management, with expertise in international regulations such as the GISTM standard. Our approach ranges from design to safe closure, ensuring stability and efficiency throughout the mine life cycle.
Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation
We have experts working on developing innovative solutions related to both climate change mitigation, including decarbonization and carbon management, and adaptation, analyzing the operations’ vulnerability to climate change and developing strategies with a focus on resilient infrastructure.
Biodiversity Management
Conservation of natural resources, biodiversity , and ecosystem services is key for people and businesses. Our vision for project development focuses on correctly applying the mitigation hierarchy, prioritizing “No Net Loss” and “Biodiversity Net Gain” as required by the most renowned international guidelines, such as ICMM Principles and IFC Performance Standards.
Closure, Reclamation, and Future Use
We focus on early planning to achieve sustainable closure through a comprehensive approach that includes physical, chemical, water, and ecological stability, and the timely involvement of stakeholders to effectively and responsibly plan the future use of reclaimed areas. To do so, we have extensive global experience in the design and implementation of closure plans that span across multiple contexts and geographies.
