Hernán Iriarte, General Manager of BRASS Peru, in this interview shares his perspective on the Peruvian mining market in this interview, emphasizing the importance of innovation and the development of new technologies to serve more clients and position BRASS as a technological leader at the forefront of Peruvian mining.

1. How would you describe the current Peruvian market, and what sets it apart from other South American countries?

The Peruvian market for engineering projects has been moving at a very slow stride for several years. Few Greenfield projects have come to fruition. Most of the projects we’re seeing are focused on expanding existing operations or projects that ensure continued SIB operation. The situation in the Peruvian project market is not much different from what we see in the region, where mining investments have largely been directed toward Brownfield projects. However, BRASS is a key player globally in fluid transportation and pipelines, which has allowed us to maintain the operations during this period of reduced activity in large-scale projects.

2. What role does innovation or technology play in the engineering services BRASS offers to the mining industry in Peru?

Innovation at BRASS is a cornerstone of sustainability and growth; It's through innovation that we have developed products and services tailored to meet needs of our customers. For example, we created the
B-Voyager® device for internal pipeline inspections; the B-PIMS® software for Pipeline Integrity Management, and the B-LDS® software for Leak Detection, which is a Real-Time Transient Model (RTTM), among other technologies.

3. What are the main challenges BRASS faces in the Peruvian market?

The expansion of our client portfolio and the growth of the BRASS brand in Peru, both for the development of Peruvian mining projects and for continuing to support our regional offices with qualified professionals.

4. What have been the most significant milestones for BRASS Peru since you took over management?

Since I accepted the management of BRASS Peru in 2015, we have achieved several key milestones that marked a turning point in our operations in the country. We began with our first operational office in Peru, which allowed us to establish a strong and direct presence in the local market. The office has been crucial for coordinating our activities, improving the efficiency of our service delivery, and enhancing customer support. Make stronger our team of engineers was a critical step to ensure the quality and excellence that BRASS offices worldwide are known for in the projects we have developed.

Furthermore, we have secured contracts with some of the most important mining companies in Peru, such as Antamina, Cerro Verde, Glencore, Chinalco, Hochschild, and Rio Blanco, among others. These contracts not only solidify our position in the Peruvian mining industry but also reflect the trust that these major corporations place in our capabilities and expertise. These milestones have been instrumental in BRASS's continued growth and success in the Peruvian market
