Geobrugg, Safety is our nature
Rolando Romero is the general manager of Geobrugg Perú. They have years of experience in management, development, and consulting in protection and stabilization projects against disaster risks related to mass movements with the fields of geotechnics and geomechanics.
1.What is Geobrugg and where does it come from?
Geobrugg is a Swiss company that belongs to the Brugg Group of the same nationality. It is a global leader in the development of high technology, innovation, design and manufacturing of solutions against disaster risks, a field in which it has been active since 1951.
2. What is the global reach?
Geobrugg has presence on all continents, with 8 production and manufacturing centers and 434 workers faithful to its guiding principle “Safety is our nature”.
3. What are its sectors and application fields?
Its main development sector in Peru is the mining sector, as well as the infrastructure, road development, civil works, and energy sectors. Regarding the fields of application, these are aimed at developing and designing solutions such as:
-Dynamic barriers against falling rocks, with the capacity to absorb impact energies of 10,000 kJ generated by a 25-ton block or rock.
-Slope stabilization, using high-strength steel meshes in combination with an anchoring system (soil nailing).
-Protection against debris flows (huaicos) and superficial landslides, using flexible barriers.
-Coastal erosion, for the protection of coastal edges and waterways.
-Underground mining, high-strength steel meshes for fortification systems for general support (landslide control) and dynamic support for rock burst control.
-Special solutions, based on flexible high-resistance steel membranes.
4. What is high strength steel?
It is a steel with a higher % of carbon in its alloy, which allows its yield strength to be 1770 MPa or N/mm², a high elastic limit, greater resistance at a lower weight and smaller diameter, allows it to be pre-tensioned with high loads up to 50 kN, better and greater transmission of stresses. Which allows providing a greater support capacity for more complex load requirements and requests.
5. What is Geobrugg's support?
Support is oriented in three phases: before, during and after in an integral way in the following processes of a project: at the Consulting level, support to consultants in the development of engineering, definition of technical specifications, numerical simulation, up to the final design of the solution, providing support and advice in the planning processes. Once in the production phase, the process is monitored until the delivery of the system to later support and advise in the installation or implementation process. The above with the purpose of providing approval of the aforementioned process and ensuring the correct operation of the solution and in this way generating a follow-up or post-sale process to generate maintenance periods and technical inspection of the same.
