MINALGO, consultant for extractive projects in favor of private investment
Miguel Hidalgo Montero, with more than 15 years of experience in the field, is the General Manager of the consulting firm Minalgo, and in this interview, he shares insights about the company he leads.
1. What services does Minalgo offer, and what is its value proposition?
Minalgo is a consulting firm that provides information management and analysis services (social intelligence) to projects, especially extractive ones, contributing to their viability. Likewise, we provide professional support in terms of security plans, property security, citizen security plans, consulting, and information management for crisis situations and situations of latent social conflict rooted in the ZID and ZII of the projects. Finally, Minalgo has a professional team with great expertise in carrying out the methodical search for intrusive devices in all types of environments and facilities, electronic sweeps, physical sweep analysis service, physical analysis service of system networks and CCTV systems, sale and installation of blockers, etc.
2. What is Minalgo's participation in the mining projects?
Given the very complex political-social situation that we live in, and due to this false empowerment that the governments in power have granted to defense fronts, ronderos, agrarian leagues, women and youth organizations, native and indigenous communities, in addition to the NGOs that many times have a high ideological and rent-seeking content, all of this has resulted in the viability of the projects depending, almost 80%, on the interaction and relationship with the different communities in their environment. At Minalgo, we are specialists in information management, and we comprehensively analyze political, social, and economic aspects that could influence, directly or indirectly, the operation and security of a certain project. 3. How can we reduce the negative impact of mining?
The new mining has developed modern exploration and extractive processes. These methods have optimized the operation of the projects and have considerably reduced damage in terms of community relations or social interrelation, the environment (water, land, air), and other mitigation strategies have been established that make the negative impacts much smaller and, in some cases, imperceptible.
4. What projection does Minalgo have for 2025?
To be a leading company in consulting on extractive activities to contribute to the viability of projects and an objective vision-country, “Peru, mining country.” To achieve this, it is essential to constantly improve our human resources, professionals with knowledge of the worldview of the communities, their needs, and the impact that the projects could cause in order to fully satisfy the needs of our clients.
