Séché Perú: Sustainability and Innovation at the Service of the Environment
Séché Perú, part of the international group Séché Environnement, is positioned as a benchmark in the integrated management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste in the country. With an operation based on high standards of safety, traceability, and sustainability, the company provides environmental solutions that respond to the needs of different sectors according to the client's needs, always under a circular economy perspective.
As part of its commitment to sustainable development, Séché Perú has been promoting the EcoVida Chilca project, an initiative that integrates innovative environmental practices into its Ecocentro Chilca operation. This project is articulated around four key axes:
1. The establishment of a temporary refuge for motelo tortoises, a native species affected by illegal trafficking, through a custodian authorized by SERFOR. The space has adequate infrastructure, veterinary follow-up, and animal welfare protocols.
2. Reforestation with native species such as molle serrano and coastal molle, adapted to arid soils and low water requirements, which helps restore the local ecosystem and mitigate the visual impact in industrial areas.
3. The conservation of native cacti in fragile areas, including the relocation of endemic species, restriction of motorized access, and environmental education programs for personnel.
4. Reuse of treated wastewater using SBR technology, allowing significant water savings (more than 54,000 m³ per year) for irrigation of green areas and control of dust emissions on internal roads.
These actions are aligned with Séché Environnement's international strategy DNA (Durable Action for Nature), which promotes biodiversity conservation, ecosystem regeneration, and concrete action from industry in favor of nature.
As a reflection of a comprehensive vision, Séché Perú has presented the institutional book Séché milenario, a publication that highlights the protection of cultural heritage as an essential part of its operations. This work documents how, in the Ecocentro Chilca, the expansion works were developed under an environmental management that integrated preventive archaeological interventions, carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Culture. Through this book, homage is paid to the ancient populations that inhabited the area, reaffirming the commitment and respect for history.
With these initiatives, Séché Perú reaffirms its leadership in sustainable environmental solutions and its active commitment to protecting the environment, demonstrating that it is possible to move towards responsible and forward-looking management.
