More than 270 business leaders, executives, institutional representatives, and mining professionals attended the second edition of the Trujillo Mining Cocktail (formerly the Maple & Chan Chan Cocktail), organized by the Canada Peru Chamber of Commerce as part of the National Mining Congress (CONAMIN).

The event took place on June 16 at the Trujillo Museum of Modern Art – Gerardo Chávez Foundation, a cultural institution founded by renowned Peruvian artist Gerardo Chávez, widely recognized as one of the most prominent figures in contemporary Peruvian art. This iconic venue, celebrated for its artistic collection and cultural legacy, provided the setting for an exclusive networking gathering aimed at strengthening relationships, exchanging experiences, and creating new opportunities for collaboration among key stakeholders in the mining sector.

The opening remarks were delivered by Carla Martínez, General Manager of the Canada Peru Chamber of Commerce, who expressed her appreciation to the Mining Engineering Chapter of the Lima Departmental Council of the Peruvian Engineers Association (CIP), organizer of CONAMIN, for enabling the Chamber to be part of one of the most important weeks for Peru’s mining industry.

During her speech, Martínez highlighted that the Trujillo Mining Cocktail was created with the objective of becoming a key meeting point for the industry and that, following the success of its first edition, it continues to strengthen its position as a platform that promotes networking and exchange among companies, institutions, and professionals. She also emphasized the value of hosting such events in venues that connect attendees with the culture and heritage of the host regions.

Following her remarks, Jorge Benavides Kolind-Hansen, General Manager of First Quantum Minerals and Director of the Canada Peru Chamber of Commerce, underscored the potential of northern Peru to drive the country’s economic growth through modern, responsible mining with a long-term vision, capable of generating employment, infrastructure, and greater productive integration.

The event also featured remarks from Jorge Soto Yen, President of the Mining Engineering Chapter of the Peruvian Engineers Association and representative of the CONAMIN organizing committee. He highlighted the importance of Peru’s northern macro-region for the development of mining activities and noted that initiatives such as the Trujillo Mining Cocktail serve as an important platform for promoting investment and strengthening relationships among industry stakeholders.

With its second edition, the Trujillo Mining Cocktail reaffirmed its purpose of bringing together industry leaders and decision-makers in an environment that fosters dialogue, collaboration, and the creation of opportunities for the development of Peru’s mining sector. The strong turnout further confirmed the relevance of this initiative and reinforced the Chamber’s commitment to continuing its growth, with the goal of engaging an even greater number of companies, institutions, and professionals in future editions.
