On occasion of Water & Environmental Services Perú’s 10th anniversary, CEO Luis Andrés Barba shares the vision and challenges that have established the company as a benchmark in water resource management and technological solutions, both nationally and internationally.
1. What value does WES offer, and how does it differentiate itself in the current market?
At WES, our core value is excellence, reflected in every project, from hydrological analyses to advanced technological solutions. We are committed to providing clear and effective responses, ensuring quality, efficiency, and effectiveness. Our differentiation lies in our specialization and the use of advanced technology to remain competitive. Multidisciplinarity, diversity, and technological innovation drive our growth. Additionally, we hold TRINORMA ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certifications and approvals with mining companies, which support our commitment to the highest quality standards.
2. How does WES innovate in the Water Resources sector, and what are the challenges related to the value of services?
Innovation is part of our daily operations, as we adopt emerging technologies and encourage our team to propose new tools. We face challenges such as implementation costs, regulations, and climate change through continuous research and a commitment to sustainability. We have developed two key solutions: Fraktal System, which uses artificial intelligence for environmental management and real-time decision-making, and MODi, which processes and centralizes real-time sensor data, offering sustainable solutions for the water sector.
3. What strategies is your company implementing to adapt to emerging market trends?
We focus on sustainability and the continuous use of AI to enhance efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of our clients' operations. We leverage a data repository with our expertise, which enhances our capabilities through ongoing team training, both in core business areas and in understanding our market.
4. What are your company's plans, and how do you intend to achieve these goals?
Our plan is to expand internationally and solidify our leadership in water resource management. We invest 20% of our profits in training our team in innovation and are prepared to attract investors who support sustainable production and emission reduction.
5. What personally motivated you to enter this field and lead this company?
Growing up in a small town in northern Peru, I experienced the effects of climate change firsthand and learned to value water as essential to life. My mission is to ensure that productive activities respect this resource. Leading WES has allowed me to turn this passion into innovative water management solutions, creating a positive impact on communities and promoting sustainable development. I firmly believe in driving significant changes for a more equitable and resilient future.
